Discern & Grow is a discipleship resource for the Bryan–College Station community and anyone who wants to take seriously the call to Christian maturity.

The Problem

The writer of Hebrews was frustrated. His readers had been following Christ long enough to be teaching others — but they still needed someone to reteach them the basics. They were still on milk when they should have moved on to solid food.

This is not an uncommon condition. Many believers remain at the level of basic doctrine indefinitely — not because the deeper things are unavailable, but because growth requires practice, and practice requires intention.

The Goal

Maturity in Christ looks like Christ. Paul describes it in Ephesians 4 as reaching “the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ” — not a static state, but a direction of travel. The renewed mind of Romans 12 doesn't happen automatically. It is the fruit of deliberate attention to God's word, the community of believers, and the sanctifying work of hardship and life.

Discernment is a key marker of that maturity. Scripture draws a distinction between knowing good and choosing good. A mature Christian does both. And this, Hebrews reminds us, takes practice.

Who This Is For

This site is for believers who want to move deeper — whether you've been following Christ for forty years or four months. It is for the Bryan–College Station community: students, faculty, families, and neighbors who want to think carefully about their faith and grow in it.

“I will rejoice in the Lord; I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!”
Habakkuk 3:18

This takes practice.
